Accessibility statement
This site should be usable by everyone. This page says what has been done, what has not, and how to tell us when something is in the way. Last updated 29 September 2026.
What has been done
- Pages are plain HTML with headings in order, landmarks (header, navigation, main, footer) and a logical reading order; there is no reliance on JavaScript to read content.
- Text and link colours meet WCAG 2.2 AA contrast against the page background; the decorative amber is never used for text.
- Text is real text, scales with browser settings, and reflows to a single column on narrow screens without horizontal scrolling.
- Expand/collapse lists (seeds, Discovery and funded projects) use native
details/summary, so they work with the keyboard and screen readers, and an “Expand all” button opens them at once. - Images carry alternative text or are marked decorative. The hand-illustrated opportunity-space document is described in its alt text and ARIA’s accessible PDF is linked beside it.
- Navigation tabs carry a plain-language description for screen readers.
- Animation is suppressed when the browser asks for reduced motion.
Known limitations
- The mailing-list form is embedded from Beehiiv, a third party; its accessibility is theirs to maintain. If it does not work for you, ask the maintainer to add you.
- Linked PDFs are ARIA’s documents. Where ARIA publishes an accessible version, it is linked next to the original; the Predicting Evolution draft has no accessible version yet.
- The site has not been formally audited against WCAG 2.2. The checks above were done by hand and with automated contrast tools.
